Starting and sustaining community projects takes more than just inspiration. To support alumni in Africa, the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Program (YES) asked us to lead a Digital Storytelling Workshop. With training behind and in front of the camera, participants developed photo essays and shot, edited and produced short films. They learned about working with journalists, developing campaigns and using social media to build a broader base of support for local activism.
